In EST, who previously has released some critically acclaimed albums, we have Magnus Öström on drums, Dan Berglund on double-bass and, of course, Esbjörn Svensson himself, who was an infant, when he practically leaned to walk to the sound of "In Walked Bud". "My father was and is a great jazz lover. So I was very young when I first came in touch with Monk´s music. He’s the kind of composer that can not be avoided", says Esbjörn Svensson.

The music is played with assured hands as a tribute, almost as if EST is saying that “this is the way I heard the music, this is how it moved me,” as they take you on a rather joyous romp through some historical jazz classics. I’m not going to try and tell you that this is mandatory listening, what I am going to tell you is that you’re about to miss a great adventure if you turn you back, and never hear these notes float through your speakers and into your head.
